Heard, Seen and Accepted
Therapy for People of Color in Texas
Restorative Peace was built as a place where people of color from many cultures can be heard, seen and accepted. You should not have to teach your therapist about your life before you can get help.

Why This Matters to Us
Many people of color have tried therapy once and left feeling misunderstood. Maybe a counselor brushed off racism at work, did not understand family obligations, or seemed uncomfortable when faith came up. That experience keeps a lot of people from ever trying again.
Our practice is known for trauma and relationship counseling among minorities. Our team is diverse and reflects many cultures, backgrounds and faiths, and that is not a side detail. It is the reason the practice exists.
What People Bring to Us
Clients come to us with everyday weight and with old wounds, often both:
- Trauma, including racial trauma and discrimination
- Depression that others mistake for being tired or lazy
- Strain with a partner, parent or adult child
- Grief that the family does not talk about
- Pressure to be strong for everyone else
How Sessions Work
Sessions are by secure video from anywhere in Texas, with evening and weekend times available. You pick what to work on first. Your clinician listens for context: your culture, your family's expectations, your faith if it matters to you, and the world you live in every day.
Sessions in Spanish are available with Debbie Vidana, our bilingual graduate counselor intern, who practices under the supervision of a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor.
Finding the Right Person on Our Team
Fit matters more than credentials on a wall. When you reach out, tell us what you are dealing with and anything you want in a therapist, whether that is someone who understands faith, someone who works with couples, or someone who focuses on grief or trauma. We will suggest a clinician and you can change your mind at any point.
Many of our clients are adults who have never been to therapy before, or who tried it once and stopped. Starting again is welcome here. Your first session is mostly about getting to know you and what you want to be different, so there is no pressure to share everything at once.
