Therapy for Latino Families

Family comes first, and sometimes that is exactly what makes it hard. We help Latino families talk, listen and work through conflict together, in English or in Spanish.

When Two Worlds Live Under One Roof

Parents who grew up with one set of rules are raising kids who live with another. Grandparents may live in the home. Some family members are more comfortable in Spanish, others in English. Those differences are a strength, and they can also lead to misunderstandings that pile up.

Family therapy gives everyone a fair turn to speak and a guide to help the conversation stay respectful.

No one is put on trial in these sessions. The aim is to understand what each person is carrying, from a parent working two jobs to a teenager caught between friends and family rules, and to find small changes that make home feel safer for everyone.

What Families Bring to Us

Some of the reasons families reach out:

  • Constant arguing between parents and teens
  • A child who seems withdrawn, anxious or angry
  • Stress after a move, a separation or a loss
  • Different expectations between generations
  • Wanting to stay close while giving kids room to grow

Sessions in Spanish

Debbie Vidana is bilingual in English and Spanish and has experience with children and families. Families who prefer Spanish can work with her in their own language, and sessions can move between languages when that helps everyone take part. Debbie is a graduate counselor intern and practices under the supervision of a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor.

Las sesiones en español están disponibles con Debbie por video seguro, desde cualquier lugar de Texas.

Respect for Your Culture

We will not ask your family to become someone else. Respect for parents, faith, closeness and loyalty stay at the center. The goal is a home where people feel heard, not a home that follows a textbook.

In practice, that might mean helping a father and a teenage son talk about grades without it turning into a shouting match, or helping a mother explain what she gave up so her kids could have more. Each person learns to say what they need and to hear what the others need. Families often tell us the house feels lighter once everyone stops guessing what the others are thinking.

Common Questions

Does the whole family have to attend every session?
No. Some sessions may include everyone, and others may be with one parent or one child. Your clinician will suggest what makes sense.
Can a parent speak Spanish while a teen speaks English?
Yes. With Debbie, sessions can move between both languages so everyone can express themselves.
How do online family sessions work?
Family members can join from the same screen or from different places, as long as everyone is in Texas during the session.
