Getting Started

How do I get started?: Call, text or email the office to book a free 15-minute consultation. We ask what is going on and answer your questions.
How am I matched with a therapist?: We match you by what you bring. If you have preferences on gender, race, age or belief, tell us and we honor them where possible.
Who do you work with?: Adults, teens 13 to 17, couples, families, seniors, veterans and military, first responders, healthcare workers, immigrants and LGBTQ+ clients. Everyone is welcome.
Do you see teens?: Yes, ages 13 to 17, with a parent or guardian involved in getting started.
Do I need a diagnosis to start?: No. You can start with what you are noticing. If you use insurance, your clinician discusses any diagnosis with you.

Do I need to live in Texas?: You need to be located in Texas at the time of each session. All sessions are by telehealth.
How long is a session?: Sessions are 45 or 60 minutes (30 or 45 minutes with a Graduate Counselor Intern).
How long does therapy take?: It depends on what you bring. You and your counselor make a treatment plan and review it together about every three months.
Do you offer evenings or weekends?: Yes. Evening and weekend appointments are available.
Do you offer sessions in Spanish?: Yes. Debbie Vidana, our bilingual Graduate Counselor Intern, offers sessions in English and Spanish under LPC-S supervision.

Do you take insurance?: We are in network with Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, Optum, Medicare, TRICARE and Curative. See Rates and Insurance.
How much does a session cost?: Self-pay sessions start at $50 with a Graduate Counselor Intern, $100 with an LPC Associate, $150 with an LPC and $215 with an LPC-S. Couples and family sessions add $50 for each additional member. A sliding scale based on income is available. See Rates and Insurance.
How do I cancel?: Call, text or email the office with 24 to 48 hours notice. A missed session without notice has a $75 no-show fee that insurance does not cover.

Can sessions be recorded?: No. Sessions are not recorded by us or by you.
Is what I say confidential?: Yes, with a few legal limits, such as a risk of serious harm to you or someone else, or abuse of a child or older adult. Your counselor explains these at the start.

What if I don't click with my therapist?: That happens, and switching is normal. Tell us and we will help you move to someone else on the team.
Can I bring my faith into counseling?: Yes, if you want to. Faith-based counseling is offered, never required. Clients of every belief or none are welcome.
Can I give my therapist a gift?: Thank you for the thought. We do not accept gifts or tips.
