Additional Support

Help between sessions, ways to prepare for telehealth, and a way to give a session to someone who needs it.

When to Use Which Resource

Call or text 988 when you are in emotional distress, worried about suicide, or concerned about someone else. You can reach out even if you are unsure how serious things are. Text HOME to 741741 if writing feels easier than speaking and you want to connect with a crisis counselor.

Call 911 for a life-threatening emergency or immediate danger. Do not wait for a reply from our office in an emergency. NAMI and Mental Health America offer information and education, but they do not replace emergency help.

Preparing for Your Telehealth Session

A few small steps make video sessions feel calmer and easier to settle into.

  • Log on five minutes early so you aren't rushing.
  • Charge your device, or keep it plugged in.
  • Find a private room where you won't be overheard.
  • Stay hands-free and stationary. Prop up your phone or use a laptop and headphones.
  • Never join a session while driving. Your counselor will reschedule if you are in a moving vehicle. You can join from a parked car if you are alone in it.

Supporting Someone You Love

Start with something simple: "I care about you, and I want to listen." Let them speak without rushing to give advice. You can offer to sit with them while they call or text 988, or help them find the number. If there is immediate danger, call 911.

Lend a Helping Hand

Would you like to donate a therapy session to someone who can't afford one right now? Any amount helps someone in need get started. Email info@restorativepeace.com and we will tell you how.
