A Space That Is Yours
Therapy for Black Women in Texas
You hold a lot together: work, family, church, friends who call you first. Therapy is one hour where nobody needs anything from you, and you can say what is really going on.

Tired of Being the Strong One
Many Black women were raised to keep going no matter what. That strength is real, and it has carried families for generations. It can also mean nobody notices when you are running on empty, including you.
Clients tell us they feel guilty even thinking about therapy, as if needing help means they failed. It does not. Taking care of yourself is not selfish, and you do not have to hit a breaking point first.
Some women come in after a hard season: a divorce, a health scare, a parent who needs care. Others come in because everything looks fine from the outside and still feels wrong inside. Both are good reasons.
What We Often Help With
Bring whatever is heaviest. Common reasons women reach out to us include:
- Trauma, from childhood or from more recent experiences
- Depression, exhaustion and feeling numb
- Grief after losing a parent, a child, a marriage or a future you planned
- Relationship strain with a partner or family
- Stress from microaggressions and being the only one at work
You Will Not Have to Explain Everything
Our practice was built for people of color. Every counselor on our team can help with multicultural issues. You can talk about hair, church, your mama, code switching or a hard day at work. We ask what those experiences mean to you rather than assume. If faith matters to you, it is welcome in the room. If it does not, nobody brings it up.
Fits Into a Full Life
Sessions happen by secure video from anywhere in Texas, so there is no commute and no waiting room. Evening and weekend times are available. Many women join from a parked car on a lunch break or after the kids are asleep.
In early sessions, you and your clinician decide what to focus on first. For some women that is sleep and stress. For others it is a relationship, an old hurt, or grief that never got its turn. You set the pace, and you can always say "not today" about any topic. Over time, the goal is simple: feeling more like yourself, with room to rest and support that goes both ways.

Common Questions
- Can I request a Black therapist?
- You can tell us anything that matters to you in a therapist. We will share who on our team may be a good fit and let you decide.
- What if I start crying and cannot stop?
- That happens, and it is okay. Your clinician will slow things down and help you feel steady before the session ends.
- Do you work with women outside Houston?
- Yes. We see clients anywhere in Texas by telehealth, from Dallas to El Paso.
