After You Serve

Therapy for Veterans in Texas

Coming home does not mean the war stays behind. If sleep, anger or memories are running your life, you can talk to someone who knows combat trauma and does not flinch at it.

What Veterans Tell Us

Some veterans say they feel fine until a loud noise, a crowd or an anniversary hits. Others say the hardest part is how far away they feel from their spouse and kids, even in the same room. Many have been told to just move on, and they have tried.

None of that means something is wrong with you. It means your body and mind learned to survive, and now they need help learning that you are safe.

Some veterans also carry a head injury from blasts or accidents, which can make memory, focus and mood harder to manage. That is part of the picture too, and it deserves care alongside the trauma.

Working With Tara Franklin, LPC

Tara has 14 years of experience and works with veterans, including combat-related PTSD, as well as aging adults and seniors, LGBTQIA+ clients, bariatric and weight issues, and substance use recovery. Her approach is integrative, drawing on person-centered, cognitive-behavioral, exposure-based and solution-focused methods. She works at a pace that feels right to you, and you stay in control of what you share.

  • Nightmares, flashbacks and staying on high alert
  • Anger, irritability and pulling away from family
  • Mood and memory changes after a head injury
  • Guilt or grief tied to what happened in service

Private Pay, Plain and Simple

Tara sees private-pay clients only and does not bill insurance. Some veterans prefer this because nothing is sent to an insurance company. Her rate is $100 for 45 minutes or $125 for 60 minutes. Ask our office whether a superbill makes sense for you.

Sessions are by secure video from anywhere in Texas, with evening and weekend times available.

What the First Weeks Look Like

Early sessions focus on getting to know you and what you want to change. Tara will ask about sleep, stress, relationships and what daily life looks like now, not only about deployment. Many veterans notice small gains first, like fewer blowups at home or a little more rest, before they feel ready to work on the hardest memories.

You can pause, slow down or change direction at any point. The goal is steady progress you can feel in your daily life, at a pace you set.

Tara Franklin sees private-pay clients only and does not bill insurance. You must be located in Texas during each telehealth session.
