Therapy Without Insurance

Private Pay Therapy

Some people would rather keep their care between themselves and their therapist. Tara Franklin, LPC, sees private-pay clients only, for PTSD, combat trauma and brain injury, by secure video across Texas.

What Private Pay Means

Private pay means you pay for sessions directly instead of using a health plan. Tara does not bill insurance, so the arrangement is simple: you, Tara, and the work you are doing together.

There are no plan approvals to wait on before you start, and no session limits set by an outside company. If it turns out Tara is not the right fit, the office can help you find another clinician on our team.

Why Some Clients Choose It

People choose private-pay therapy for different reasons, including:

  • No insurance claim or diagnosis code is sent to a health plan
  • Sessions are not limited by what a plan decides to approve
  • More say over how often you meet and how fast you go
  • Privacy that matters for some careers, including military and public service
  • A plan that does not cover the kind of care you want

Who Tara Works With

Tara has 14 years of experience with PTSD, combat-related PTSD and traumatic brain injury. She works with veterans, including combat-related PTSD, and offers affirming care for LGBTQIA+ clients. She uses an integrative mix of person-centered, cognitive-behavioral, exposure-based and solution-focused methods.

Her clients often have been through a lot and want a steady relationship with one clinician who knows their history, not a new face every few months.

With private pay, you and Tara decide together how often to meet. Some clients start weekly and space sessions out as things settle. Others come in for a focused stretch of work and return later if they need it.

Out-of-Network Benefits

If your plan includes out-of-network benefits, the office can talk with you about a superbill, a receipt you can submit yourself for possible reimbursement. Whether your plan pays anything back depends on your plan, so check with them first.

Ask your plan whether outpatient mental health care is covered out of network and what paperwork they need.

Tara Franklin sees private-pay clients only. She does not bill insurance, so no claim goes to a health plan for her sessions. Her rate is $100 for 45 minutes or $125 for 60 minutes. Call or email the office to ask about openings.
