Combat-Related PTSD Therapy
You came home, but part of you still feels like you are on alert. Tara Franklin, LPC, has 14 years of experience and focuses on combat-related PTSD, with sessions by secure video anywhere in Texas.

What Combat Stress Can Look Like at Home
Combat-related PTSD does not always look like what people expect. Often it shows up as being short with the people you love, scanning every room you walk into, or sleeping in pieces. Some veterans feel numb. Others feel like the anger comes out of nowhere.
- Nightmares or memories that hit without warning
- Feeling on guard in crowds, traffic or loud places
- Pulling away from family and friends
- Using alcohol or long hours to keep things quiet
How Tara Works
Tara's approach is integrative. She draws on person-centered, cognitive-behavioral, exposure-based and solution-focused methods, and she chooses what fits you rather than running everyone through the same plan.
You decide how much to share and when. Tara does not need every detail of what happened to help you. Early sessions often focus on sleep, anger and getting through the day before any deeper trauma work begins.
Many veterans have heard that therapy means sitting in a room and reliving the worst day of their lives. That is not how Tara starts. The first goal is usually to help you feel steadier, so the harder work, if you choose it, happens on solid ground.
Why Some Veterans Choose Private Therapy
Some service members and veterans prefer care outside of a larger system, with one clinician who knows their story and keeps a steady schedule. Tara works with private-pay clients, which gives you a direct relationship with her and more say over the pace of your care.
Family members are often the first to notice changes, and some clients reach out because a spouse asked them to. That is a fine reason to start.
Sessions Anywhere in Texas
Sessions happen by secure video, so you can join from home without a waiting room. You need to be located in Texas during each session. Evening and weekend times are available.
Tara Franklin sees private-pay clients only. She does not bill insurance, so no claim goes to a health plan for her sessions. Her rate is $100 for 45 minutes or $125 for 60 minutes. Call or email the office to ask about openings.

Common Questions
- Do I have to talk about combat right away?
- No. Tara lets you set the pace. Many clients start with what is hardest day to day, like sleep or anger, and come to the harder memories later.
- Can I see Tara if I also have a brain injury?
- Yes. Tara also works with traumatic brain injury and understands how it can overlap with PTSD.
- Does Tara take insurance?
- No. Tara sees private-pay clients only. Her rate is $100 for 45 minutes or $125 for 60 minutes. The office can explain whether a superbill could help you seek out-of-network reimbursement.
