Veterans and Military Families
Online Therapy in Fort Worth
For Fort Worth veterans, service members and the families who stood beside them. Talk with a Texas-licensed clinician by secure video, on your schedule.

Service Changes People, and Families Feel It
Coming home is not a single day. Some veterans sleep with one ear open for years. Some feel calm only when things are loud and urgent, then restless the moment life slows down. Spouses and children adjust around all of it, often without anyone naming what is happening.
Therapy gives that experience a place to land. You do not have to tell every story at once, and you do not have to prove that what you went through was hard enough to count.
Fort Worth has deep military roots, and many families here know this pattern well. Some veterans come to us years after their service ended, when a new job, a new baby or a loss stirs up memories they thought were settled. Others come because a spouse finally said, gently, that something has to change. Any of those reasons is a good reason.
Combat-Related PTSD With Tara Franklin
Tara Franklin, LPC, has 14 years of experience and works with veterans, including combat-related PTSD. She also works with aging adults and seniors, LGBTQIA+ clients, bariatric and weight issues, and substance use recovery. She works at a pace that feels right for you and draws on person-centered, cognitive-behavioral, exposure-based and solution-focused methods.
Tara also offers affirming care for LGBTQIA+ veterans and service members.
Sessions with Tara are structured but never rushed. She helps you understand how trauma shows up in your body, your sleep and your relationships, then builds skills with you before going anywhere near the hardest memories.
Support for Spouses and Couples
Deployments, moves and long separations put real strain on a marriage. Melisa Smith, LPC, works only with couples and families, and Lyndsay Dawson, LPC Associate, works with couples and families too, under LPC-S supervision.
Why Distance Does Not Matter
Our practice is based in the Houston area, but every session happens by secure video with Texas-licensed clinicians. You only need to be physically located in Texas during your session. Evening and weekend appointments are available.
Tara Franklin sees private-pay clients only and does not bill insurance. Her rate is $100 for 45 minutes or $125 for 60 minutes. Other clinicians on our team do accept insurance.

Common Questions
- Why does Tara only see private-pay clients?
- Tara does not bill insurance. Some clients prefer private pay because nothing is submitted to an insurance company. The office can talk through what that means for you before you book.
- Can a spouse come to therapy even if the veteran is not ready?
- Yes. A spouse or partner can start on their own. Living alongside someone with combat stress is hard, and you deserve support too.
- I am still on active duty. Can I be seen?
- If you are located in Texas during your sessions, yes. Call or email and we will talk through scheduling around your duty hours.
Ready to Begin?
