Your Faith, Welcome Here

Christian Counseling

If your relationship with God is part of how you make sense of pain, you should not have to leave it at the door. We make room for it in counseling when you ask us to.

When Church Words Are Not Enough

Many believers come to us after years of hearing that they should pray harder or simply trust more. Prayer may still matter deeply to you. And you may also be exhausted, grieving or stuck in a marriage that feels like a standoff. Both things can be true at once.

Christian counseling here means you can talk about your faith openly, including doubt, anger at God, or hurt that happened inside a church. Nobody will judge your questions or hand you an easy answer.

How Faith Shows Up in Sessions

You decide how much faith belongs in the room. Some clients want scripture, prayer or their values woven into the work. Others simply want a counselor who will not dismiss what they believe. We follow your lead, and we never preach.

  • Connecting your values to the changes you want to make
  • Working through guilt, shame or spiritual hurt
  • Grief and loss when your faith feels shaken
  • Marriage and family strain in Christian homes

Couples and Families Who Share a Faith

Melisa Smith, LPC, has a background in Christian ministry and works with couples and families. She uses a person-centered approach and motivational interviewing, which means she listens first and helps you find your own reasons to change.

Demetria Flowers and Lyndsay Dawson, LPC Associates, also offer faith-based counseling for clients who want it, and they work with couples, families, teens and adults.

Starting Without Pressure

Your first conversation is simply about what is going on and what you hope will change. You do not need to have your faith figured out, and you do not need to defend it. If you are unsure whether you want faith in the room at all, say that too. Many clients begin with practical goals, like sleeping better or arguing less, and let the spiritual side come up naturally over time.

Every session is by secure video, so you can meet from a quiet room at home anywhere in Texas.

Faith is always your choice in therapy. Our team includes clinicians of different faith backgrounds, and clients of any belief, or none, are welcome. All sessions are by secure video for clients located in Texas.

Common Questions

Do I have to be a Christian to work with you?
No. We serve people of many faiths and people with no faith at all. Christian counseling is simply an option for those who want it.
Will my counselor pray with me?
If you ask, your counselor can talk with you about including prayer. It is never required, and you can change your mind at any time.
Is this the same as pastoral counseling?
No. Our counselors are trained mental health professionals. Faith can be part of the work, but the care is clinical counseling, not spiritual direction from a pastor.
