Relationship Issues With Loved Ones
When things are tense with someone you love, it follows you everywhere. We help you understand what keeps happening between you and decide what you want to do about it.

Not Only Romantic Relationships
Relationship issues are not only about a spouse or partner. Many of our clients come in because of a mother who still criticizes, a brother who stopped calling, an adult child who keeps distance, or a family that only talks when there is a crisis.
These relationships carry history, culture and expectations that go back generations. Sometimes the hurt is loud. Sometimes it shows up as silence, guilt or the feeling that you are always the one who gives in.
Signs It Is Time to Talk to Someone
You do not need a crisis to start. People often reach out when they notice things like these:
- You replay the same conversation for days afterward
- You avoid family events, or dread them for weeks
- You say yes when you mean no, then feel resentful
- Small disagreements turn into old arguments
- You love the person but do not know how to be around them
What We Work On Together
You can come alone, even if the other person is not ready. In individual sessions we look at the pattern: what sets it off, what you usually do next, and what you would rather do. You practice saying hard things clearly, setting limits without cutting people off, and deciding which battles are worth your energy.
If both people are willing, couples or family sessions are also available by secure video. Everyone gets a chance to be heard, and no one is there to take sides.
Room for Culture and Family Roles
Being the oldest daughter, the one who made it out, or the one everyone calls for money comes with weight that is hard to explain to someone who has not lived it. Our team reflects many cultures and backgrounds, and we take your family's values seriously instead of asking you to drop them.
Respect for elders, loyalty to siblings and keeping private things private can all live alongside healthier boundaries. Your clinician helps you find words that honor the relationship and still protect your peace. Over time, many clients notice they leave family gatherings calmer, argue less with a partner, and feel less responsible for fixing everyone else's problems.

Common Questions
- Can I work on a family relationship without bringing my family?
- Yes. Most people start on their own. Changing how you respond often changes the relationship, even when the other person never joins a session.
- What if I am not sure I want to fix the relationship?
- That is a fair place to start. Therapy can help you decide what kind of contact feels right for you, including more distance, without pressure in either direction.
- Do sessions happen online?
- Yes. All sessions are by secure video, and you need to be located in Texas at the time of each session.
