Loss Changes Everything Around It

After someone dies, the world expects you to return to normal within a few weeks. Meanwhile you are still reaching for the phone to call them, or bracing yourself for every holiday and birthday. Grief can also follow losses that do not get a funeral: a marriage, a pregnancy, a friendship, your health or the future you planned.

Lyndsay has four years of experience with grief, anxiety, depression and life transitions. She is honest and open, and she will sit with the hard parts instead of hurrying you past them.

What Grief Work Looks Like With Lyndsay

There is no right way to grieve, so sessions start with your loss and your story. Lyndsay helps you make room for the feelings that come up, including the ones that surprise you, like anger, relief or guilt.

  • Talking about the person or life you lost
  • Getting through anniversaries, holidays and first times
  • Managing the anxiety or numbness that can follow a loss
  • Finding ways to carry their memory forward

Supportive, and Willing to Challenge

Lyndsay is supportive yet willing to gently challenge you when you are stuck. Together you build a clear pathway toward the goals you set, whether that is sleeping again, returning to work or simply being able to say their name without falling apart.

Grief Across Cultures and Families

Every family grieves in its own way. Some gather and talk for hours; others go quiet and get back to work. Cultural and faith traditions shape how loss is honored and how much feeling is allowed to show. Lyndsay respects those traditions and makes space for the parts that may not fit them, like grief that keeps going after the family has moved on. You do not have to choose between honoring your people and taking care of yourself.

Lyndsay Dawson is an LPC Associate and practices under the supervision of a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor (LPC-S), in line with Texas licensing rules.

Common Questions

Is it too soon to start grief counseling?
There is no too soon or too late. Some clients reach out within days of a loss, others years later when grief resurfaces. Both are welcome.
Can I see Lyndsay for a loss that was not a death?
Yes. Divorce, estrangement, a diagnosis or a major life change can all bring real grief, and Lyndsay works with those losses too.
Where do sessions take place?
Online, by secure video. You can join from home or another private space as long as you are located in Texas during the session.
