When the Old Plan No Longer Fits

Even good changes can knock you off balance. A promotion brings pressure you did not expect. Becoming a parent, an empty nester or a caregiver changes how your days are spent and who you are in them. Divorce, relocation or retirement can leave you wondering where you belong now.

Demetria has four years of experience helping people through life transitions, often alongside the anxiety and low mood that come with them. Clients describe her as warm and supportive while they sort out what comes next.

How Demetria Helps You Adjust

Sessions give you room to grieve what ended and to get clear on what you want from the new chapter. Demetria helps you separate what you can control from what you cannot, and to make decisions from a steadier place.

  • Making sense of mixed feelings about a change
  • Setting priorities when everything feels urgent
  • Building new routines and support around you
  • Handling family expectations about your choices

Working With Family When It Helps

Some transitions affect a whole household. Demetria works one-on-one and in groups, and with your written permission she can coordinate with family members or educators when that would help. You decide who is involved and when.

Finding Your Footing Again

Transitions often come with questions that do not have quick answers. Who am I without this role? What do I want now that the old plan is gone? Demetria makes room for those questions without forcing a fast resolution. Over time, many clients find that a change they dreaded also opened a door they had not considered. That does not erase what was hard. It means you get to have a say in what happens next, and Demetria will help you think it through clearly.

Demetria Flowers is an LPC Associate. She practices under the supervision of a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor (LPC-S), as Texas requires for associates.

Common Questions

Is a life change a good enough reason to start therapy?
Yes. You do not need a crisis to talk with someone. Many clients come in because a change has left them unsettled and they want help making sense of it.
I just moved to Texas. Can I see Demetria online?
Yes. As long as you are located in Texas during your sessions, you can meet with Demetria by secure video from wherever you live in the state.
How long does therapy for a transition usually last?
It depends on the change and what you want to work on. Some clients come for a focused stretch of sessions, others stay longer. You and Demetria will talk about it openly.
